A sport loved by everybody: fishing!

Sport fishing is a sport loved by everybody, which can be practiced both in freshwater rivers and in the sea. It is widespread in several Italian regions thanks to particular circles of passionates who are interested not only in sport itself, but also in the protection of fish and the marine ecosystem. In fact, the true sport fisherman, is respectful of the laws that regulate his discipline (minimum measures, prohibitions of fishing, endangered fish, etc.) and of nature itself.

Following will be illustrated some important rules to know to be able to fish safely near Rosolina Mare, but also throughout Italy.

Do you need a special document to practice this sport?
Yes, for the Veneto region it is necessary to have a fishing licence, also to fish at sea. You can obtain from the proof of payment of the regional concession fee of €34.00, which shows the personal data of the fisherman and the reason for the payment "Licence of amateur-sport fishing Regional Law 28 April 1998, n. 19".

You can get daily or weekly fishing permits?                                                                                                       
Of course, pursuant to art. 11 bis of LR n.19/1998 and art. 7 of the Regional Regulation n. 6/2018 it is allowed to issue temporary permits for amateur-sport fishing also for tourist purposes for the duration of a day or a week, intended for Italian and foreign citizens. The issue of these permits is for a fee and the cost is €8 for a single day or 20 for a week.

Can you get a fishing license for foreigners or tourists?
Yes, foreign fishermen residing abroad can practice amateur-sport fishing if they hold the certificate of payment of the concession fee of €13,00 for the type D fishing licence. The payment is valid for three months and must be presented with an identity document.

Are there limits on fishing time, fish size and equipment?
Yes, each region sets limits to be able to legally fish in its own waters. These constraints relate to the period during which fishing may be carried out and which species and maximum sizes may be fished. Within the same Region there may be different limits from one river to another or from one lake to another. Other limits may relate to the number of artificial or natural hooks to be used, the times and the number or total weight of fish to be fished.

How to fish at sea respecting the rules? The permission to fish at sea coast?
Those who want to fish legally at sea as an amateur, both from land and from a boat, can obtain a free mandatory permit by registering at the site of the Ministry of Agriculture. After registration, it is possible to print the authorization to always take with you when you go fishing. If this is not the case, you risk a fine of up to 2,000 euros and the obligation to comply within 10 days.

Rosolina Mare is located on a strip of sand surrounded entirely by water: on one side the Adriatic, on the other the Adige and the fishing valleys. It offers wide beaches, a lush pine forest, lagoons and fishing valleys. The shore of Rosolina Mare has peculiar characteristics of both the marine and the river environment and extends for nine kilometers between the Adriatic Sea and the northern lagoons of the Po Delta.

What are the most common fish?
- The most characteristic species are pike, carp, tench, bluegill and catfish. On the muddy seabed live mullet, sole, plaice and turbot. Sturgeon and freshwater shrimp have almost disappeared, while the torpedo fish has spread very quickly.

What are the most famous places to catch them?
- the area of Cavallino Treporti and Jesolo, characterized by a rich fish biodiversity
- In the islands of Venice, out of mass tourism and near Torcello, is Valle Ca` Da Riva Perini, where since the seventeenth century they practice extensive fishing.
